Sustainable by Design

U.S. CAD believes in the importance of driving sustainable design awareness and adoption. As an Autodesk partner, we provide technology, education, and support for programs that inform and promote innovations addressing current and future sustainable design challenges.

We are committed to partnering with the private and public sector, industry leaders, educators, and environmentally focused organizations to create a forum to initiate sustainable design dialogue and increase awareness among the global community. It is our hope that through these collective efforts and Autodesk’s technology, we will help architects, engineers, and designers create a more sustainable world.

On September 25th, 2008 we ran our annual CAD Summit in San Diego. Come Together contained a full day of Autodesk technology training with 40 different classes focused on architectural and engineering disciplines. Attendee's learned how to leverage these technologies to advance thier skills while learning how to integrate your data across the extended design team! Our company had special lunch-time presentations that addressed how to integrate data through the lifecycle of a project and between several different Autodesk technologies to support working in a digital, virtual modeling environment thereby reinforcing integrated practice and project delivery.  Keep checking us out for updates on information on next year's CAD Summit!

During 2008, we will be featuring many awareness campaigns around these issues. Our Solutions Tour will be featuring a presentation on coordination models that can help you realize issues with your design before it is built. We will be featuring a presentation on Integrated Project Delivery at the Autodesk Experience Tour; this will help engineers and architects collaborate better on projects whereby this communication can aid in avoiding downstream issues. We will be participating at the Ecobuild America show in May; this show is completely focused on driving education in sustainable design initiatives and U.S. CAD will be delivering a whole track of Autodesk product seminars and how they relate to these initiatives. We also really brought on the IES software (Integrated Environmental Solutions) where you can perform building analysis and energy calculations easily. As you can see, we are very serious about this and we believe our customers should be thinking about their role in Sustainable Design initiatives, GREEN Building, LEED (Leaders in Energy and Environmental Design) and LEED-ND (neighborhood development) certifications.
